Clinical characteristics and sociodemographic features of psychotic major depression

Abstract Background Psychotic major depression (PMD) is a subtype of with poor prognosis. Previous studies have failed to find many differences between patients PMD and those non-psychotic (NMD) or schizophrenia (SZ). We compared sociodemographic factors (including season conception) clinical characteristics PMD, NMD, schizophrenia. Our aim was provide data help inform diagnoses future etiology research. Methods This study used all admitted Shandong Mental Health Center from June 1, 2016 December 31, 2017. analyzed cases who had experienced an episode (International Classification Diseases, Tenth Revision codes F32.3, F33.3), NMD (F32.0–2/9, F33.0–2/9), SZ (F20–20.9). Data on sex, main discharge diagnosis, date birth, ethnicity, family history psychiatric diseases, marital status, age at first onset, education, allergy history, presence trigger events were collected. Odds ratios (OR) calculated using logistic regression analyses. Missing values filled the k-nearest neighbor method. Results more likely diseases in their first-, second-, third-degree relatives ([OR] 1.701, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.019–2.804) obtained higher level education (OR 1.451, CI 1.168–1.808) without psychotic features. Compared patients, lower 0.604, 0.492–0.741), often divorced 3.087, 1.168–10.096), younger onset 0.934, 0.914–0.954), less allergies event 1 year before 0.420, 0.267–0.661). Season conception, sex did not differ significantly PMD. Conclusions similarities than terms demographic characteristics. The found SZ, correlated specificity diseases. Furthermore, should be considered epidemiological disorders.
